About Founder
I have been centered in a creative deepening;
an intimacy of making with alchemy at the intersections of health and healing, multimedia and justice, education and art. Over the last two decades, my inclination towards creating in these spaces has meant an eclectic career as a creative director, producer, curator, matriarch, and public programmer.
I currently serve as the Founder of Brass Cymbal a creative consulting studio focused on making community impact and I am Creative Director at CIIS, a holistic university educating our world's leading psychotherapists and activists with trauma-informed, anti-racist, integral learning.
As a consulting producer I have supported various experimental films by artist Sky Hopinka which include Dislocation Blues, Małni—Towards the Ocean, Towards the Shore, Visions of an Island, Anti-Objects, or Space Without Path or Boundary, I'll Remember You as You Were, Not as What You'll Become, wawa, and Fainting Spells. These films are part of collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and The Whitney Museum.
My creative work revolves around inquiring and interrupting systems of oppression through a focus on storytelling, mythologies, romantic reimagining, and systems of care. I have built and led teams of designers, artists, media-makers, data scientists and creative strategists to create award-winning campaigns, virtual spaces, experiences and media work.
To counterbalance my digital world building, I enjoy getting close to plants and living communally. I am part of a somatic Buddhist group and in the mystery of how to raise two free and spirited humans, Romi and Mars. I consider my roots of painting, performance, and urban design essential to my lens. I also honor the roots of my family including Japanese lei makers and caretakers on Oahu on my mother’s side and Icelandic engineers and farmers on my father’s side. I received an MFA from Claremont Graduate University and a BA in Urban Planning and Design from University of California, San Diego.
